How To Make Chicken Salad Great!


Chicken Salad

My mom really knows how to make chicken salad! She is the best teacher in my opinion. With her experience and dedication to cooking, she taught me that organization is very important in the kitchen because it saves you time and frustration, and lets enjoy art we call cooking!

But the most important thing she taught me is to “use your imagination!” You can make something from anything and still impress someone!!

With that, I’ll share with you her tasty salad!

Back in my homeland of Poland we call this "sałatka gyros".

You’ll be impressed! :)

Ingredients (Serves 4-5 people):

3 chicken breasts
Seasoning for chicken ”Gyros” (available at European stores)
2 tablespoons of oil
1 medium onion
2-3 small cucumbers (pickles)
1 cup of corn
2-3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of ketchup
1 cabbage salad or 1 lettuce salad chopped


Wash and dry chicken breasts.

Cut into cubes, sprinkle with "gyros" seasoning and simmer on medium heat in a medium-sized skillet with oil.

Set breasts aside to cool, and place on the bottom in a dish.

Peel the onion, wash and cut it into small pieces.

Cut pickles into small pieces as well.

In a skillet saute the onion, and when it becomes a light golden colour it’s ready.

Wash and dry the lettuce. Chop into small pieces.

All the ingredients are now ready to place into dish in these layers:

Chicken breast on the bottom.

Then without mixing anything, place onions, on top.

Do the same with the pickles - again without mixing anything.

Then, in the same fashion, top with corn, followed by mayonnaise, ketchup, and finally, chopped lettuce. Of course,layers can be repeated!

7. Lettuce Salad
6. Ketchup
5. Mayonnaise
4. Corn
3. Pickles
2. Onions
1. Chicken Breasts

Do not add too much mayonnaise or ketchup, especially, because it’s not going be tasty anymore!

My Chef's Tips:

Because my Chef doesn't like ketchup (picky picky), you can try freshly sliced tomatoes!
