More food tips!

What better way to start off a New Year with some simple easy ideas that will become good habits!

Thanks to some good friends of mine, I have some more great tips to share with you. Even though not all of them are about chicken!

One of my friends was cleaning her desk at work and happened to find some nice tips for cooking and storing fresh food, which I really liked and thought should share with my readers and friends (not counting my Chef of course)!

I guarantee with these you can save food, money and time!

cheese tips
  • Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not get moldy.

  • Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

So which is this pepper better for?!

  • Add garlic immediately at the start to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic; and at the end of a recipe if you want a stronger taste of garlic.

  • Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

More tips for chicken!

Teresa, another friend, told me that when she’s cooking at home, they use only one special cutting board for poultry or meat.

In her case the special board was simply a yellow color different from all the rest. Everyone in her family knows that it’s used for making chicken (or meat) for dinner. This way, it’s safe for everyone! Even her kids know! I think this a great tip to teach yours too.

And finally:

When having a leftover pizza, heat it in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove; set to medium-low and heat until warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy microwave-pizza!!

pizza tip

This is great to know when you make my chicken pizza or barbecue chicken pizza!!

Et voilà!

More food tips from my kitchen to yours with special New Year wishes for 2013!!
